RALLY CAPS - (Ages 7 & under)

Eligibility

• Born 2019-2021: Play in Rally Caps
• Born 2018: Can play Rally Caps or Grand Slam if played 1+ year of Rally Caps
• Born 2018 (new players): Generally register in Rally Caps, but can join Grand Slam if skilled and comfortable with older players

Program Details

This program is our introduction to baseball for our youngest players. Kids learn fundamental baseball skills in a fun and non-competitive environment.

• Introductory program using safety equipment
• Players divided by shirt color
• Parent/adult companion required on field with own glove
• Coloured hats earned for skill achievements (max 2 per season)
• Season: Early May to late June
• Sessions: Choose between Mon/Wed or Tue/Thur in Charleswood, in St.James on Tue/Thurs
• Registration: $80

Required Equipment

• Baseball glove
• Batting helmet
• Water bottle labelled with the player’s name
• Parent/companion needs own glove

GRAND SLAM - (Ages 9 & under)

Eligibility

• Born 2017: Play in Grand Slam
• Born 2018: See Rally Caps eligibility
• Born 2016 (new players): Play in Grand Slam
• Born 2016 (experienced): Can play Grand Slam or option to try out for 11U-A if skilled. Register for 11U-AA tryouts to have skills evaluated to be considered for age-advancement to 11U-A
• 11U-A advancement requires tryout; must rank in top 5 players of all 11U try outs to qualify for age-advancement to 11U-AA

Program Details

• Teams of 6-8 players, no outfielders
• Focus on fundamentals
• Non-competitive: no score keeping
• Uses spring-loaded pitching machine
• Season: Late April to late June
• Games: 2 per week (Mon/Wed/Sun), 6:30-8:00 PM
• 30-45 minute pre-game practice
• Registration: $175

Required Equipment

• Baseball glove
• Batting helmet with chin strap
• Athletic supporter
• Water bottle
• Baseball pants (recommended)
• Team bats provided; personal bats allowed
  • Max barrel diameter: 2¾ inches
  • Length: middle of chest to fingertips
